Christiane Grauert was born in Washington, DC and grew up in Germany. She studied Illustration and Graphic Design at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig, Germany.
After her graduation she moved to Minneapolis, MN where she received an MFA in Visual Studies from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. She now teaches as a professor of illustration at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design and works as a free-lance illustrator.
Christiane’s mixed-media images have appeared in numerous publications including The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, Utne Reader, Harvard Business Review, and The Progressive as well as on book covers and posters. She has illustrated for textbooks and children’s books in Germany and South Korea.
Christiane is an enthusiastic traveler who likes to keep a travel sketchbook on all her trips.
